2019 British Society of Soil Science Award winner: Chiara Rosace

    6 November 2019

As part of the Horizon 2020 scholarship, Chiara, 26, arrived at Harper Adams University as part of the AgroCycle project. Undertaking her Masters in Research, Chiara specialised in Sustainable Agricultural Technology, working on her postgraduate dissertation to bring together her research into an academic paper which has gone on to be shared by Innovation for Agriculture.

Recognised for her work in the field, The British Society of Soil Science presented Chiara with an award for the best postgraduate final year dissertation on a soils related topic. On the day of Chiara’s graduation, Dan Evans, a member of the society, presented her with her award. Now as an Early Career Member of the British Society of Soil Science, Chiara has taken her expertise into the field, working on webinars to educate others on her research.

Dr Simon Jeffery, Senior Lecturer in sustainable technology said: “Chiara excelled at all aspects of her course during her time at Harper, including both taught and research elements, achieving top marks in her taught modules.

“For the research element, Chiara worked with diligence and rapidly gained an excellent understanding of the topic allowing her to produce an excellent thesis, which contains three research chapters of publishable quality, and for which she is awarded this prize.

“Further to her academic excellence, Chiara fitted in excellently with the team and made a lot of good friends during her time at Harper. She will be missed. She strongly deserves to be awarded this prize and we are certain that she will go on to achieve great things!”
