Christmas crafts on campus

Yesterday, children from Buntingsdale Primary School were invited to campus to take part in a host of festive activities. With gingerbread decoration, arts and crafts as well as a visit from Father Christmas, the children had the chance to have some fun before the end of term.

First, the children met Original Biscuit Bakers, a gingerbread bakery based in Market Drayton. The company have strong links with the university as one of our own placement students, Lydia, came to the event as part of her role in marketing. The children from Buntingsdale found out about all the ingredients that go into making such a biscuit, as well as try some of the cookie dough. From there, they were given a gingerbread of their own to decorate with icing where a considerable amount didn't make it to the biscuit! Their designs were left to dry and take home later in the afternoon.

Following this, there were tables of crafts where the children could get into the festive spirit. With beaded candy canes, reindeer food for Christmas Eve, and a selection of colouring sheets, they spent time designing and creating some Christmas goodies.

After lunch, the children were then given their final surprise - a visit from Father Christmas! Treating each of the children to a wrapped present, they spoke to Santa about their festive wishes and had a group photo as seen below. The children were all thoroughly pleased to have met Father Christmas before the big day and took their gifts back to school to finish off the day.
