Tomorrow we will be at The Online Agricultural Show, bringing degrees that matter to the virtual world! The Harper on Tour team will be on hand to share information and have some fun, all while helping The Online Agricultural Show team to highlight the work of the sector in a time where industry support is needed the most.
So what can you expect?
The Harper on Tour team will be there to answer your burning questions about university life, degree pathways and the Harper community as a whole. You can even pick up a copy of our prospectus for more information on precisely why our degrees matter. We will also have academic experts on hand for course specific questions across the disciplines. Whether you’re interested in agriculture, environmental studies, food degrees or zoology, our lecturers are here to help!
Once you’ve asked your questions and learnt a bit more about what Harper can help you to achieve, we also have a range of fun activities for you to try your hand at. Our challenges include identifying the weird and wonderful things our domestic pets eat through looking at their x-rays; guessing what crops go into some unassuming products; and learning some amazing entomophagy facts through our bug roulette. You might just be surprised by the results!
The Online Agricultural Show has been developed and organised by David Hill, an alumnus of Harper Adams. Seeing the cancellation of agricultural shows across the country due to Covid-19, David suggested a solution - take the showgrounds online! The project grew leaps and bounds, seeing support grow from all parts of the industry.
Now in partnership with Innovation for Agriculture, the show will host a range of events from livestock competitions to food and drink tents to Young Farmer challenges. Any of the proceeds made from the show, as well as any donations, will be split between five charities: The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution; The Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution; The Farming Community Network; YANA Farming; and The DPJ Foundation. With a particular focus on mental health, David hopes the funds raised will help those most affected by social isolation during this difficult time.
Open from 9am, we look forward to seeing you at the Education Zone of The Online Agriculture Show!
