A project transforming a chalet on the glamping site of two Harper Adams alumni is set to feature in a new BBC Two series tonight.
Bill and Cheryl Sparey – who met while studying for degrees at Harper between 1999 and 2003 – run the Dragons’ Gate glamping site at their farm in the Monnow valley, on the border between Wales and England in Herefordshire.
The glamping cabins at their farm are among a range of structures that are being given makeovers as part of a new BBC Two series, My Unique B and B.
The site is part of a diversification project in which Bill – who studied a BSc in Agriculture with Marketing - and Cheryl – who studied a BSc in Agrifood – have been running on their third-generation beef and sheep farm, providing luxury glamping experiences.
Bill said: “The BBC actually got in touch with us after hearing about Dragon’s Gate and came down to film the series – we are in a wonderful location at the top of a hill which proved very scenic.
“We also have a wedding barn on-site – a structure which Cheryl and I tested out when we got married in lockdown last year!”
In Tuesday’s programme, presenter Simon Parfett and his team work alongside Bill and Cheryl to build and decorate one of the chalets at Dragon’s Gate – with a statement bed, bespoke kitchen and designer interior among the planned work.
My Unique B and B – Cheryl and Bill’s Chalet is on BBC Two this Tuesday, March 2 at 6.30pm.
