Harper Adams students are known for their entrepreneurial side, often juggling various enterprises. And John Halton is no different. John has spoken to Herdwatch (see original article) about his studies, how the adoption of new tech has helped with his family farm in County Meath, Ireland and how he has amassed 15,000 followers on TikTok thanks to his dairy farming videos.
Digital savvy John introduced his family to the Herdwatch app to reduce and streamline their workload – apparently leaving him with more time to create fun and educational videos now being enjoyed by thousands on the social platform.
But he hasn’t forgotten his studies: “The course is very diverse and gives a great outlook on farm animal production for the future, the lecturers are top class and always on hand to give advice or help whenever it’s needed. I am getting great exposure to different farming practices that you don’t see much back home.”
