Billy Chatterton, a third year Agriculture student has been speaking to Horse and Hound about winning his first point-to-point race on the back of his own family’s horse – Minella Friend.
After his win - which happened to be the Midland Point to Point’s feature race, the Fernie Four-Mile mixed open - Billy, explained to Horse and Hound how this victory was a long time in coming for the pair.
Their move to Rowley’s Shropshire-based training facility, which is closer to his studies at Harper Adams has also benefitted both horse and jockey.
Billy now hopes to continue his winning streak with 12-year-old Minella when the pair race at Garthorpe’s point-to-point at the end of the season.
