A group of students from Harper Adams University have completed a 250-mile charity cycle ride in memory of four of their friends.
The cycle ride began at the University main building at 7am on April 5 and took the eight intrepid cyclists on a 250-mile trip to Melrose in Scotland.
Funds raised by the cycle ride will go to charities in the memory of Mark Simons, Charles May, Len Eadon and George Crawford – with the route ending in Melrose, which was George’s home town.
The group raised more than £8000 for the Farming Community Network, Edale Mountain Rescue and The George Crawford Legacy Trust with their efforts – which could be followed via a dedicated Instagram account and Facebook page.
Heere are some of the highlights:
A 7am start on day one:
Was followed by the first unintentional pit stop, just 14 miles later:
And while there were a few issues during the day:
The team made it to the hotel on the first night.
A surprisingly happy start on day two:
Some great Lakes views:
And a well-earned rest in Penrith:
Finally day three - and Scotland:
Some worries about the hills:
But the group kept on going...
…right up until the finish line in Melrose.
The group have gone through three of their initial targets and this morning had raised more than £8000 – if you’ve been inspired to sponsor them, click here.
