The breadth and diversity of research at Harper Adams University has been underlined at the institution’s second annual Research Conference.
The conference draws together researchers from across the University, including academic staff, PHD researchers and postgraduate students, apprentices, and more, to discuss the current topics they are researching, network with colleagues – and to display their work.
A packed day was opened by Harper Adams Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ken Sloan, who told attendees not to be afraid to address the big questions which matter to industry and society in their work.
Delighted to open this today’s #HAUresearchconference. Tackling big #research questions means tolerating failure along the way. Our academics and research students focus on what matters for #industry and for #society. @HarperAdamsUni

Don't be afraid to fail and don't be afraid to address big questions...sterling words from @ProfKenSloan to start off our #HAUresearchconf22 looking forward to a busy day supporting our researchers here at @HarperAdamsUni pic.twitter.com/nPXqss5qNy

Professor Sloan was followed by a wealth of presentations, as well as the chance for researchers to view each other’s posters and find out more about fellow researchers’ projects.
Harper Adams University Director of Research, Professor Dawn Arnold, hailed the day as a major success.
She said: “It was great to see so many people come together and talk about the research they are doing.
“Once we put the call out for this year’s conference, we were quite overwhelmed with the number of offers for talks and for poster presentations we had. We’ve had input from lots of people whether that’s our PhD researchers, our academics, or even some of our apprentices who have talked about the research they are doing with industry.
“While we had a mix of presentations, both online and in-person, I think lots of people wanted to be here in the room if they could be this year.
“However people took part, their participation showed the breadth and depth of academic research at Harper Adams!”
