Students' Union secures five star safety award

Harper Adams Students’ Union has been awarded a five-star rating for its safety for students and staff.

The Union has signed up to the Licensing Security and Vulnerability Initiative (LSAVI), a safety accreditation scheme which scores licensed venues based on how safe they are for customers and staff.

Telford and Wrekin Council’s Public Protection department is working in partnership with LSAVI, and is the first authority in the West Midlands to actively encourage pubs and clubs to sign up to a night-time safety scheme which could see them awarded a five-star rating.

The scheme, developed by the Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, will give customers confidence when visiting the Borough’s night spots and can help boost business at those that receive the highest possible rating.

Staff from the Telford and Wrekin Public Protection department and LSAVI visited a trio of three key venues this week – including the Students’ Union – to celebrate their five-star status under the scheme.
