A novel charity fundraiser supported by Harper students past and present has seen a Tuk Tuk call at the University campus as part of a 1000 mile tour.
Staff at GLW Feeds in Leicestershire undertook the charity journey around their trading area earlier this month, with the aim of raising more than £20,000 for three charities: the Air Ambulance, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute and St Dorcas Children’s Educational Centre.
The journey marks 150 years of trading for the livestock feeds manufacturer and is part of a year of fundraising which staff are carrying out.
The team on the road featured three Harper alumni– BSC (Hons) Veterinary Bioscience graduate Natasha McGregor, MSc Ruminant Nutrition student Joe Wheeler and Postgraduate Diploma Ruminant Nutrition student Louis White - who is now GLW Feeds' Managing Director.
Meanwhile, providing logistical support back at the office was current placement student Georgia Brown, who is studying for a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture.
Speaking during a pitstop at Harper Adams, Natasha said: “It’s been great taking part in the challenge, it’s flown by. It’s strange coming back as a graduate – there’s been lots of change on campus.”
And Joe added: “We hope people have followed our trip across social media – and there’s a GoFundMe they can donate to if they want to help!”
For those who wish to donate, the GoFundMe is still open – and can be found here.
