What is your job role at Harper?
Principal Lecturer in Rural and Environmental Planning
Associate Head of the Harper Adams Business School (Land and Property Management)

Where did you study?
I studied at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (BSc Environmental Studies); ?Bangor (Msc Rural Resource Management and Environmental Technology) and Liverpool (Master of Civic Design (accredited Planning qualification).
What are your professional qualifications?
- BSc(Hons), MCD, MSc, PgC TLHE
- Chartered Town Planner (RTPI)
- Senior Fellow of the HEA
What are your previous job roles?
I worked for 17 years as a planner in local government.
What is your specialist subject?
Town and Country Planning (rural).
What is your favourite module and why?
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation because this is a key topic that impacts all types of land use and business and is fundamental to short-, medium- and long-term planning.
Why do you like working at Harper?
Whilst the University has grown over the 17 years I have been here; it has kept a great sense of community between staff and students.
What opportunities do you see for Harper LPM graduates?
Our graduates have never been in such demand. The wide range of competing demands upon land use mean that there are a wide range of opportunities including traditional estate management, planning and development, infrastructure delivery etc. all of which require specialists in land and property management.
