    Rowing Club ready for Freshers!

    11 September 2017

Rowing is one of the most competitive university sports and here at Harper Adams Rowing Club you can join in on all the fun that the team sport has got to offer!

To any fresher’s who are considering joining the rowing club this year, we cater to anyone experienced in rowing or just wanting to try something new. We would love for you to join us and share the excitement the rowing club provides.

We are an active club, with a large membership, here at Harper Adams, and we want to continue going from strength to strength. Our club is continuing to grow with support and investment from the University, our sponsors and the exec’s hard work. There are plenty of opportunities within the rowing club to get involved, including the role as our cox. Every good team needs a motivated and enthusiastic cox, so if you think this could be you then come along to join the rowing club. Club members are dedicated, and for many people the sport becomes a big part of your life and we would love to share this with the Fresher’s, to give you an amazing experience whilst you are here.

The rowing club provides a relaxing escape from work, helping you to be fresh and ready to learn. We get involved in competitions on the weekends, with the main competition being BUCS at Nottingham which is a three-day event. It involves a lot of rowing but also makes the club closer as a group. We also got involved in the ‘Funky Legging Competition’ that takes place at the annual BUCS Regatta, last year we had our tractor leggings! Our training consists of water-based training sessions, usually held twice a week, and land training such as circuit training or focused rowing machine sessions. There are plenty of opportunities within the rowing club to push yourself to excel at the sport and meet new people to build friendships.

The rowing club also provides many opportunities to socialize such as going out for club meals or having themed nights where we all get involved in the fancy dress. We train hard and have a well-deserved social time together.

If you’re interested in seeing what the Rowing Club is all about then come and speak to us at Fresher’s Fair as we will answer any of you questions but in the meantime like our Facebook page: Harper Adams Rowing Club to keep updated about what we’re doing.
