Meet the graduates: Kelly Hoodless

Kelly Hoodless, 23, from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, has been awarded the JSR Genetics Shield.

The award is given to the final year student who has achieved the best results for a pig oriented dissertation or investigational project. The 23-year-old completed a study entitled: The effect of Phytase and lysine content on the nutrient digestibility and performance of finishing pigs.

Senior lecturer, Alan Stewart said: “Kelly’s study was excellent and she is a worthy winner of the JSR Genetics Shield.”

Kelly was an AHDB Pork and ABN pig scholar, for her placement she worked for AB Agri where she specialised in pig nutrition which provided her with the concept for her honours research project.

Kelly graduated from Harper Adams University with a first class honours BSc Animal Science degree and has secured a job at AB Nutrition as a key account manager.
