Joe Bagshaw, 23 from Southam, Warwickshire, was awarded the Cefetra Grain Award when he graduated from Harper Adams University with a first class honours degree in Agriculture with Crop Management.
The award is presented to the student who attained the highest market for their dissertation on a grain production related topic.
Principal lecturer Dr Martin Hare said: “Joe has always had a focus of working in the crop protection industry, he received the Syngenta Scholarship which provided him with a paid placement with them in Cambridge.
“Joe with the support of Syngenta took the opportunity to perform a field experiment that formed the basis of his honours research project. He investigated the interactions between SDHI-based fungicide programmes and nitrogen fertiliser rates on foliar disease and grain yield and quality.”
The 23-year-old since graduating from Harper Adams University has returned to Syngenta to take up a graduate position as a technical trialist.
