Joe Powell, 22, from Welshpool was awarded the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers Prize when he graduated from Harper Adams University with first class honours in Rural Estate and Land Management.
The award is presented to the undergraduate student who obtained the highest overall mark in the module: Revenue, Law and Statutory Valuation.
Joe is from a farming family and spent his placement year with Norman Lloyd who co-operate Welshpool Livestock Market. As well as his desire to become a chartered surveyor and livestock auctioneer, Joe has been actively involved in breeding his own Charolais Rams at the family farm.
His recent achievement is being named Overall Champion at the Welshpool ram sale, selling his best outfit for just under 900 guineas.
Joe’s stock judging interests have already seen him judging at both the English and Welsh Winter Fair. Joe has returned to Norman Lloyd and is working towards his professional qualifications.
