27 November 2017
On Thursday 23rd November at Harper Forum we welcomed John Mercer, Director of NFU Cymru.
He spoke on the role of the NFU in promoting British farming interests in all stages of government from local to European.
NFU Cymru have 30 offices across Wales most recently setting up in Cardiff to be able to be nearer the decision making processes in Wales. As Director, John is personally responsible for the management, resources and policy direction of NFU Cymru.
John has been with the NFU since 2004 and before this completed a degree at Harper Adams. He believes the farming industry needs to do more to reply to claims in the media showing the sector in a bad light.
NFU Cymru have drafted a number of papers on their strategy for Brexit which they will be looking to promote in government this includes a free trade deal with the EU to protect Lamb exports.
Next week at the forum a number of guest speakers from the Harper Adams Club speaking on growing your own business.
It will be held in the Regional Food Academy at 7PM and all staff and students are welcome!
