Isobel Thomas, 18, from Glamorgan, Wales, has been given the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) Walter Rowlands Memorial Award. The award is presented in recognition of Walter’s 29 years of employment with the Farmers’ Union of Wales as county secretary.The award aims to support young farmers and provides the recipient with a £200 grant.
FUW Glamorgam County Chairman, Mr Richard Walker said: “We chose Isobel for this award as she has a wide range of interests in YFC, is very motivated and clearly has a promising future career in the agricultural industry.”
Isobel is in her first year at Harper Adams University studying BSc (Hons) Rural Land Management, she said: “Coming from the farming fraternity has helped my passion for the countryside and environment and has guided me down a pathway for a future career studying rural land management at Harper Adams University. This will hopefully allow me to contribute back to the agricultural industry.”
