Harper alumna Maddie Wilson, 24, from Penley, Wrexham, is sledging 250km from Norway to Sweden pulled by a team of husky dogs to raise money for Willberry Wonder Pony Charity.
The 24-year-old event rider, who studied BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering with Marketing and Management, is fundraising for the charity which was set up by Hannah Francis, a young event rider who sadly died of cancer in 2016. Maddie was inspired by Hannah’s blogs about her battle with cancer and determination to continue riding and fundraise. Maddie began raising money at British Eventing competitions, where she rode cross-country courses with a Berry Pony attached to her. The Berry Pony will accompany Maddie on the Artic adventure.
The six-day charity challenge begins in the Arctic city of Tromso where Maddie will meet her husky companions. We wish her every success in her fundraising trip, to donate go to Maddie’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/m-wilson13
