    Graduate Diploma

    Agronomy with Environmental Management

Farmers, agronomists and company representatives are currently undertaking many BASIS training courses as part of their continuing professional development (CPD).

Some of these training programmes, managed by BASIS Registration Ltd, provide certificates that are recognised by the agricultural, horticultural, amenity and related industries as fulfilling legal requirements or meeting the needs of Quality Assurance Schemes.

BASIS Registration Ltd created the BASIS Diploma in Agronomy that can be achieved by candidates who have successfully completed six of these training programs (i.e. Certificate in Crop Protection, FACTS, Soil & Water, PPA, BETA/ Conservation Management plus 1 Advanced Module). Harper Adams University has taken this and, with the addition of an additional (second) Advanced Module, created an academic award: the Graduate Diploma in Agronomy with Environmental Management. This allows representatives of the industry to achieve an award that is the equivalent to a final year of an Honours Degree. The achievement of a 120 credit Graduate Diploma will provide a formal qualification that is not only a nationally recognised high level award, but also relevant to the industry in which you work.

The Graduate Diploma in Agronomy with Environmental Management is awarded on successful completion of the following existing modules:

    • One full BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection, taken from Agriculture, Grassland & Forage Crops, Commercial Horticulture, Floriculture or Vegetables (30 credits)
    • FACTS (15 credits)
    • Soil and Water Management (15 credits)
    • Plant Protection Award (15 credits)
    • Conservation Management or BETA (15 credits), OR from May 2018 BASIS BCM Core (10 credits) plus one of either BASIS BCM Agriculture (5 credits) or BASIS BCM Environment (5 credits)
    • Advanced Crop or Nutrient Management Module (x2) (30 credits)

    • You must be in relevant employment within the crop production sector.
    • You must be a full member of the BASIS Professional Register.
    • You must have completed 120 credits from the suite of courses approved for the award.

There are two routes, depending on the timeframe over which you have completed the courses:
