Deena Webster brings over 20 years of expertise in civil engineering and construction, complemented by a strong academic and leadership background. After completing ONC and HNC qualifications in Civil Engineering, she studied at UMIST as a mature student following a life-changing motorbike accident.
Since 2011, Deena has served as a senior lecturer in Land and Property Management, where she also acts as Line Manager, Honours Research Project Coordinator, and Course Tutor for final-year students. She chairs the HAU UCU and played a key role in designing a new suite of accredited courses for Land and Property Management. As a change agent for the Harper Transform programme, she has driven innovation and improvement in teaching and learning.
Deena contributes nationally as a volunteer writer for the Quality Assurance Agency, focusing on Principle 3 of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education: resourcing high-quality learning experiences. She actively promotes disability awareness in education, ensuring inclusive practices across her teaching.
Beyond academia, Deena is deeply involved in equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. She is a member of the British Showjumping EDI Working Group, the National Association of Disabled Staff Networks, and RICS networks. An accomplished para-equestrian competitor, she regularly competes and has competed internationally in both able-bodied and para disciplines. In her personal time, she enjoys soft pastel painting.
