Lucy Catley is course leader for the Food Industry Technical Professional Degree Apprenticeships and senior lecturer and practitioner in food technology working within the institution of Harper Adams University since Mar 2017. Prior to this she was in further and higher education working within the field of food science and technology at University Centre Reaseheath and University of Chester for 5 years. This followed a period of some 20 years working within the food industry UK as industrial trainer in the area of food safety and hygiene, HACCP, Business Improvement Techniques and Apprenticeship programmes to industry professionals. This career enabled Lucy to gain a breadth of experience within a wide number of food sectors including meat and poultry processing, ready meals, baby foods, dairy processing and breakfast cereal manufacture. Her roles included technical, quality and hygiene and environmental management.
The subject areas that are of continued interest include current research and studies in food safety culture as part of an MRes qualification. Other areas include food quality management, food Safety, HACCP, TACCP and VACCP, food security and environmental management, food production management techniques and food science innovation.
