Having joined Harper Adams in February 2020 as the Environment & Sustainability Manager (full time) within the University Secretary Office, my role is wide and varied. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Developing strategies, policies and procedures for continual improvement in all areas of environmental performance and sustainable development
- Conducting environmental audits and monitoring and reporting on environmental aspects including: waste management & recycling; sustainable travel and transport; sustainable procurement; carbon, energy and water management; sustainable construction & refurbishment; emissions & discharges and biodiversity, land and the University Farm
- Raising environmental awareness through a range of promotional campaigns and events across the University community and external stakeholders
- Full compliance with environmental legislation and other requirements
Prior to this role, I have 20 years’ experience in the HE sector having fulfilled similar sustainability roles at Bradford, Queen’s Belfast, Staffordshire and Northampton Universities.
