Ben Shipston

Governor Profile

Ben Shipston is Assistant Director, Operations, for the National Trust in the Midlands.

Following three years at agricultural college, Ben qualified as an RICS Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor and has been employed for over 30 years in a variety of roles at the National Trust, currently as Assistant Director Operations in the Midlands and East of England Region. He has overall responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Trust’s properties and land in the western part of that region which encompasses five counties including the Peak District where the Trust’s ownership extends to 15,000 + hectares. He has extensive experience in overseeing complex property acquisitions and managing large infrastructure projects including most recently a programme of adaptive re-use of traditional farm buildings.

In his spare time Ben enjoys being outdoors – be it growing fruit and vegetables, gardening or looking after his chickens, quails and ducks. A keen sportsman, he also enjoys shooting, walking, running and cycling in the countryside.
