Harper congratulates Pets at Home

Harper Adams is delighted to congratulate partner-business Pets at Home on its double win at the recent Oracle Retail Week Awards.

The company was named Speciality Retailer of the Year and Employer of the Year at the awards ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

This success followed on from a win in the Customer Service Initiative of the Year category at the 2009 awards – which resulted from Pets at Home’s training partnership with Harper Adams, to make sure employees are qualified to advise on and sell animal medicines.

Head of the Animals Department at Harper Adams, Carwyn Ellis, said: “The work we do with Pets at Home is delivered through the Rural Employer Engagement Network (REEDNet), which aims to help businesses achieve a more highly-skilled workforce by developing and delivering higher-level education programmes.

“Pets at Home has been investing its workforce, and complying with legal requirements, by sending employees to Harper Adams for Animal Medicines and Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) training and exams which qualify them as SQPs (suitably qualified persons) for the sale of animal medicines.

“It’s great to see this investment in Pets at Home staff being recognised through the Employer of the Year award. The judges praised Pets at Home for ‘a wide range of initiatives designed to encourage the development of skills and improve communication’, and we at Harper Adams agree that such praise is well deserved. Congratulations to all at Pets at Home!”
