Harper prepares for public open day
Posted 13 April 2010
Harper Adams is inviting people to “mooch” around the campus at its public open day on May 8.
The University College will be open between 10am and 3pm for people to drop in and see the latest developments – including the recently completed Postgraduate and Professional Development centre.
Visitors will get the chance to tour the campus either by tractor trailer, or on foot with one of the student ambassadors, while prospective students will have the opportunity to learn about the courses on offer and how to finance their studies.
Some of the facilities available to explore include the new 400-cow dairy unit, the Bamford Library, Princess Margaret Teaching Laboratories, Soil Hall, JCB Engineering Design Centre, Companion Animals Unit, pseudo veterinary practice and 348-acre farm.
Marketing Officer, Bertie Hancock, said: “This open day isn’t just for prospective students, it’s a chance for anyone interested in the University College to come and see what is on offer.
“Even if you are studying elsewhere, it’s still worth a visit because Harper Adams offers a range of top-up programmes and postgraduate courses.
“We have an excellent track record in the delivery of short courses and employer engagement so if you are a rural business professional then this event may also appeal to you.”
The University College is also preparing to host the Dairy Technology Event 2010 on May 5. This event is aimed at progressive dairy farmers and will feature a variety of live demonstrations and talks from industry professionals.
