National Walk to Work Week
Posted 27 April 2010
Staff and students at Harper Adams have been 'stepping' up their fitness regimes by taking part in National Walk to Work Week.
The campaign is aimed at encouraging people to walk more during the working week by either leaving their cars at home, or by walking during breaks and lunchtimes.
Colleagues at the University College have been comparing their daily steps by wearing pedometers and entering the results on the Walk to Work website.
Environment and Waste Management Officer, Karen Hughes, said: "The Walk to Work Week campaign has been extremely successful so far with organised walks in the mornings from Newport to the campus in Edgmond, and at lunchtimes.
"Walking is an excellent way to keep in shape and here at Harper Adams we are lucky to have such beautiful surroundings and countryside to explore and enjoy at the same time.
"Participating in this campaign has meant us not using our cars as much showing our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint as well as improving our health."
