Sponsorship needed for biggest student celebration yet
Posted 25 November 2010
Final year Harper Adams students are busy pooling ideas and sourcing sponsorship ready for a year of big events at the University College.
The Summer Ball Committee is responsible for booking the entertainment, hiring the marquees and sorting the decor for both the Christmas and Summer Balls. There is little or no input from staff.
They are now in need of funds to help pay for the two main highlights of the academic year and are hoping that sponsors will come forward.
Committee Chairman, Tim Sedgewick, said: “Both of the balls were really successful last year and we are hoping to build on those foundations and provide the best events that Harper has ever seen.
“As well as sponsorship, we also arrange our own fundraising and any profits are split between paying for future events and donating to charity through the Raise and Give (RAG) initiative.”
15 students are part of the committee, ranging from treasurer to publicity officer, and they contribute to all aspects of putting on the events.
Last year’s Committee brought renowned radio DJ Zane Lowe to the campus to mix a set to more than 1000 students and their guests. Other Summer Ball Committee successful bookings include Indie band, the Futureheads, and quirky farmers, the Countryside Alliance Crew.
