UNIVERSITIES WEEK 2011: Inside Big Ideas

Harper Adams University College visitors, students and staff will soon be able to get a range of services in the palm of their hand, when a mobile app is launched for users of the Shropshire campus. This is an exciting development for the institution as it is an early adopter of this market leading technology designed specifically for universities.

The University College has signed a deal with oMbiel to develop its campusM™ app for use by students and parents visiting the institutions open days this autumn. The app will provide campus maps, tours, event programme, contact details and news and alerts. It is also intended to further develop the app in future to provide facilities for existing students to support their studies at Harper Adams.

Lorraine Westwood, Director of Communications at Harper Adams, said: “We are delighted to be working with oMbiel to get this exciting application up and running. campusM™ will be developed in stages, with the first expected to go live over the summer. This means potential students visiting us at our autumn open days will have a new service at their fingertips that will give them an interactive aspect to their campus visit.”

Hugh Griffiths, CEO of oMbiel, said: “We are very pleased to offer campusM™ to the student population at Harper Adams University College. This intuitive application is available on most popular student devices providing a mobile-rich user experience. Our work with Harper Adams highlights the strength of our technology and demonstrates our leadership as a key provider of mobile services for the higher education sector.”

The campusM™ mobile platform brings together a suite of campus-based information services directly to the mobile devices of students, visitors, staff, alumni, prospective students and conference delegates.

campusM™ at Harper Adams will be available on a range of devices.
