Students' work rewarded

Three final year students have received financial prizes – all thanks to their predecessors’ successes in a farm business planning competition.
Agriculture students Christopher Tagg, 21, from Horncastle, Lincolnshire and Callum Jackson, 22, from Stoulton, Worcester; as well as Agriculture with Crop Management students Richard Clark, 21, from Spilsby, Lincolnshire, were all chosen to receive cash prizes by lecturer Tony Asson, on the basis of the quality of their second year farm business management module assignments.
The prize money comes from a ring-fenced fund of cash won by previous farm business management students who have been successful at the annual Pinnacle Awards, hosted by the Farmers’ Club.
Each Pinnacle winner or runner-up takes is awarded a sum of money for themselves, and the same again for their college or university. Mr Asson decided to use this prize fund to spur on future potential Pinnacle winners “who submit a piece of outstanding work in the subject area of farm business management”.
