Rabobank Group, leading global food & agribusiness bank, has  chosen to sponsor a new scholarship at Harper Adams University College, working in conjunction with the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE).

The initiative aims to increase the number of talented young people who choose to build a career in the food & agribusiness industry.

The first scholarship will be awarded to a student entering Harper Adams in Shropshire in September 2012, for an undergraduate degree in agriculture, agri-food or agri-business subjects.

It offers the successful applicant £9,000 for each of the three years spent studying at the college, as well as a work placement opportunity offered by an industry partner working in association with Rabobank and RASE.

All students offered unconditional or conditional places at Harper Adams on relevant courses will be eligible to apply for the scholarship, which will be awarded following a thorough selection process. Further scholarships will be awarded to new students entering the college in 2013 and 2014.

Peter L Howell, Rabobank’s UK General Manager, said: "Rabobank has an unparalleled understanding of the world’s food & agribusiness industry and its importance in the global economy and to every human being on the planet.

"In launching the Raboank Agri-food Scholarship in partnership with the Royal
Agricultural Society of England, we aim to raise awareness of food &
agribusiness and increase the number of talented young people who choose to build a career in the industry.

University College Principal Dr David Llewellyn said: “Harper Adams University College is committed to providing the very best possible experience for its students and for delivering excellent graduates who meet the needs of the agri-food industry.”

“We’re delighted that Rabobank shares our vision and has chosen to work with us to support the next generation of successful graduates.

“These scholarships are an excellent opportunity. Successful candidates will find themselves in the enviable position of not only having all their tuition fees paid, but they will also build close links with key industry partners throughout their time at Harper Adams and while on placement, which will stand them in good stead to secure a graduate level position once they complete their studies.”
