Finnish students visit campus

A group of Agrology students from Finland visited Harper Adams University College as part of a study visit to England and Wales.
The students, from the at JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Jyväskylä, Finland, were joined by Phil Hollins, a former Harper Adams lecturer who now works at the Finnish University.
The purpose of the visit was to combine field-specific English language studies with field-specific subject matter (agriculture and bioenergy). It gave the students the chance to use the English language in real situations and environments while also getting new insights into their field.
Mr Hollins said the students very much enjoyed their time at Harper Adams. “They were impressed with the size of the facilities. In Finland, for example, the average dairy herd totals just 30. They also remarked on how clean it was at the anaerobic digestion plant and how well integrated the plant was with the farm. “
During their time in the UK the students also visited the Centre for Alternative Technology, the Ironbridge Gorge, Chester and other attractions.
