The hard work and achievements of staff at Harper Adams were rewarded today with the news that the University College has been shortlisted for two Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.
Harper Adams has reached the finals of the national awards in the Outstanding Estates Team and Outstanding Leadership and Management Team categories. The awards are open to about 160 higher education institutions, and only six entrants are selected in each finalist category.
The Estates team has, over the past three years and without increasing permanent staffing, delivered a 40 per cent expansion of facilities, keeping pace with the largest sustained phase of growth in student numbers in the University College’s 110-year history. A wide range of major capital projects, worth £21m in total, have been successfully implemented with high standards of innovation, particularly in the use of sustainable technologies.
Estates Manager Paul Moran said: “This short-listing is well deserved recognition for our estates team, which is truly outstanding in its commitment to getting an excellent job done, first time every time.
“The Estates team played a key role in developing our anaerobic digestion plant, which secured the Times Higher Education Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Development Award for Harper Adams in November, and it is wonderful to see the team’s wider achievements recognised this time around.”
The Harper Adams Leadership and Management Team work tirelessly to ensure that the reputation of the institution in its specialist field is second to none, and that the experience of its students is amongst the very best in the HE sector. Being a finalist for the Outstanding Leadership and Management Team is particularly noteworthy because it is the top category in the awards and the second year in a row in which the University College has been shortlisted.
The Principal, Dr David Llewellyn, said: “We are all delighted to have reached the finals of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards. Our staff and students are deeply committed to Harper Adams and work hard to provide a true community of learning which is thoroughly deserving of this recognition.”
The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner in London on June 21. For more information visit http://www.thelmawards.co.uk/
