Harper Adams University welcomed three new lecturers at the start of the Spring term.
Dr Michael Heasman has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Food Marketing and Management in the university’s Department of Food Science and Agri-Food Supply Chain Management.
His academic and research interests cover food business, food and nutrition policy, and food security. He holds a PhD in Food Policy and his publications include the book ‘Food Wars: The Global Battle for Mouths, Minds and Markets’ (Tim Lang and Michael Heasman).
Dr Heasman has worked in the commercial world and at a number of universities, latterly at Aalborg University in Denmark.
Dr Iona Huang has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Business Enterprise and Management within the Land, Farm and Agribusiness Management Department.
Dr Huang began her professional career in Chinese universities in 1989 and held academic and management positions at Staffordshire University after moving to the UK. She joins Harper Adams from Edge Hill University where she was Director of the Centre for International Education.
Dr Andrew Cherrill has joined the Crop and Environmental Sciences Department as a Senior Lecturer in Ecology & Countryside Management. Dr Cherrill’s last post was at the University of Sunderland where he taught on a variety of environmentally themed undergraduate and postgraduate modules for 18 years. Dr Cherrill previously held research posts at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Imperial College.
With a background in entomology and environmental management, he will strengthen the team at Harper Adams delivering the UK’s only remaining MSc in Entomology.
Dr Cherrill is a Chartered Environmentalist and was for 10 years a member of the north-east England committee of the Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management.
