Reunion for former students
Posted 3 July 2013
Harper Adams University welcomed nearly 100 former students recently, some to celebrate their golden and silver reunions.
They were invited to attend the new-style Alumni Open Day together as one group, with all years invited to celebrate en-mass.
Some were marking 50 years (golden) since graduation, whilst others marked 25 years (silver).
Dr Catherine Baxter, University Secretary, said: “It was a great privilege to welcome so many alumni to our first ever Alumni Open Day, where all year groups were welcome to attend.
“The feedback we have received from everyone who attended has been excellent.”
During the event, guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a lunch using Harper Adams produce and locally sourced ingredients.
Members of the Harper Adams Club and senior staff gave a welcome and provided updates on recent campus developments, research and innovation, student achievements and the many ways for alumni to engage with the university.
Tours were given by student ambassadors to facilities such as the anaerobic digester, dairy unit and teaching laboratories.
The day concluded with afternoon tea sponsored by the Harper Adams Development Trust as a thank-you to the alumni for the support they give to current students.
Dr Baxter added: “We are looking forward to keeping in touch over the coming months and meeting more alumni at our next regional dinner in the North East of England in spring 2014, and the next Alumni Open day in 2014!”
