HRH The Princess Royal will be officially appointed as Chancellor of Harper Adams University on Friday, November 22, it has today been revealed.
The Chancellor is the ceremonial figurehead of the university, and may participate in conferring degrees at graduations as well as acting in an ambassadorial capacity for the institution, nationally and internationally.
The Princess Royal will be formally installed in this role at a special event, taking place at St Peter’s Church in the village of Edgmond - where the university is located.
Dr David Llewellyn, Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming HRH The Princess Royal back to Harper Adams, this time to formally be appointed as our Chancellor.
“It is a great honour for the university that Her Royal Highness has accepted this position. We are in the process of making the necessary arrangements for the ceremony in collaboration with members of the local community, including the university chaplaincy at St Peter's Church.”
The Princess Royal has been an Honorary Fellow of Harper Adams since 2006 and during her last visit, in November 2012, The Princess Royal Hall, a new residential block for students, was named in her honour.
