Staff at Harper Adams University today handed over a cheque for £1,240 to Cancer Research following a series of successful fundraising activities in 2013.
The fund-raising campaign, run by members of the Domestic Services team, with support from colleagues, included a cake sale, bingo morning, Christmas raffle, a separate hamper raffle, and donations in lieu of Christmas cards - with Harper Adams University employees paying to write on a charity poster instead of exchanging cards.
Domestic Services Manager Michelle Pryce said: “The team has been fundraising for charities at Christmas time since long before I started working here – at least 20 years. Charities we have supported included Cancer Research, Macmillan, Help 4 Heroes, the Air Ambulance and more. We have 87 staff in the department, and many have been affected by cancer, so Cancer Research is always a popular and well-supported charity among colleagues.
“We are very pleased to have raised so much, and want to thank everyone who donated cakes and raffle prizes and who gave generously through the various activities.”
Paula Ellison, local fund-raising manager for Cancer Relief received the cheque from Harper Adams staff members Rose Steele, Michelle Pryce and Jude Mansell.
