Land management student Beth Hanson’s report about land prices has won her an exclusive prize from newspaper publishers, Bullivant Media Ltd.
All second year Harper Adams Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM) students were asked to write a newspaper feature for the publishers on the rural land market in Worcestershire.
19-year-old Beth from Hereford produced the best article and will see her work printed within the property section of weekly title the Worcester Standard, as well as property newspaper, Exclusive Homes.
Beth, who is the university Netball Club Secretary, said: “I am thoroughly enjoying my course here at Harper Adams and feel privileged to receive the Bullivant Media Ltd award.”
As well as having her work printed, Beth receives a £50 book token and certificate. She is also the REALM Student Rep, MATRICS Rep and works as a student ambassador on open days and interview afternoons.
During the summer she spent two weeks in China on a cultural exchange where she learnt to speak Mandarin and cook Chinese food. Last month she was also awarded the Kildare Charitable Trust Scholarship and is looking forward to starting her placement year with Roger Parry and Partners.
2nd prize of a £30 book token was awarded to Simon Wells and 3rd prize of a £20 token to Frances Griffiths.
Head of REALM, Simon Keeble, said: “We are honoured to have a prize and support from Bullivant Media.
“It makes the assignment real and gives input from the media which will help students to practice writing articles on technical subjects for their employers in the future.
“This is the first time this has taken place so we are glad to have the guidance and support of Bullivant Media.”
