The Harper Adams Football Club is celebrating following a bumper year of highlights, including a rare sponsorship deal with agricultural machinery manufacturers, New Holland.
Around 35 players have benefitted from a new strip as well as funding towards match travel expenses thanks to the deal, secured at the start of the season, worth around £2,000.
Students train on Monday evenings and form three teams that compete in the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) leagues.
After approaching New Holland for a possible sponsorship deal, the team had to submit an appraisal before being awarded the money by New Holland Agriculture and New Holland dealership, Malpas Tractors.
Harper Adams Football Club Secretary, BSc (Hons) Agri-Food Marketing with Business Studies student Sam Green from Preston, said: “We were extremely fortunate and grateful to secure the generous sponsorship deal with New Holland and Malpas Tractors.
“New Holland selects their sponsorship deals very carefully, and the last one that the company took part in was with famous Serie A Italian football club, Juventus!”
Another highlight for the team was when 14 members travelled to Salou to take part in a football tour. This was organised by the club and the players were able to wear their new strip thanks to the sponsorship.
Second year student Sam, 19, added: “We hope that the sponsorship deal coupled with the Salou trip will help us to attract even more quality players when the freshers join us in September.”
