Posted 30 July 2014
Students studying engineering at a leading Chinese agricultural university have spent around two weeks learning about robotics and off-road vehicles during a summer school at Harper Adams University.
The students, from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Northwest A&F University in Yangling District, learnt about autonomous vehicles, robotic programming and GPS positioning during their visit.
They were also able to enjoy social trips to local tourism attractions such as the Ironbridge museums, Shropshire hills and visits to Shrewsbury, Stafford, Birmingham, Liverpool, engine manufacturers, Perkins and digger manufacturers, JCB.
Professor Yan Xiaoli, from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Northwest A&F University, praised Harper Adams for the quality of teaching and course content.
She said: “The students have learnt a lot, not only from the teaching, but also about British culture and attitude towards life.
“It has been a very meaningful trip and the students have enjoyed their time here.”
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Mills, said: “It has been an absolute delight to have these students with us for their visit.
“They have been so enthusiastic with everything that they have done and have been excellent ambassadors for their university.
“I will certainly pass that message on to Northwest A&F University senior managers when I visit Xi’an in September.”
