Chinese Embassy visit to Harper Adams

Harper Adams University recently hosted guests from the Chinese Embassy.

Mr Ni Jian, Minister and Deputy Head of the Chinese Embassy, and Mr Jiang Zhengwang, Education Counsel of the Chinese Embassy, met with the Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn, and Andy Jones, the Director of Learning and Teaching. 

The Vice-Chancellor outlined the work of Harper Adams University, highlighting collaboration in China, and led a campus tour including the Dairy Unit and Agricultural Engineering Innovation Centre. 

Mr Ni was very impressed with the University's development and offered support for any future projects HAU might establish in China. The visitors also met a group of Chinese students and visiting scholars.

Harper Adams University has worked closely with partners in China for the last decade, including running joint degree programmes in International Business Management and Food Quality Retail Management with Beijing Agricultural College.

Harper Adams also hosts a summer school for engineering students from China’s Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, and is delivering a Masters course in Applied Mechatronic Engineering for students from two leading Chinese universities.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co, Harper Adams has been able to run an annual student exchange programme, allowing UK students to visit China in the summer and learn about culture and study there, before welcoming the new cohort of Chinese students the following September.

Harper Adams has also previously delivered training to Chinese government ministers.
