A prestigious agricultural society scholarship has been awarded to a Harper Adams Agri-Food Marketing with Business Studies student.
22-year-old Sian Hardy from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan is the 2015 recipient of the Waitrose-sponsored Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Scholarship.
The £3,000 award will enable Sian to top up to a full BSc (Hons) degree and also visit Waitrose’s supply chain.
Sian, a former Llandovery College student, said: “Thanks to this scholarship, I will have an insight into the Waitrose supply chain systems and gain invaluable experience.
“In my eyes, the more experience you have, the more employable you become and it is that which will give you an advantage over others.
“Once I have graduated, I hope to work in the food supply industry for a few years, so that I can eventually return to my family farm and set up my own farm shop.”
During her time at Harper Adams, Sian has been a member of the netball team and a member of student society, Harper Cymru. She is also a member of the Beaumaris Singers - a choral group for both students and residents of the local area.
Sian officially received her award and the 2015 Royal Welsh Show. For more information about the university's activity at the show click here.
