Harper Adams University has broken into the top 50 Universities in the country as ranked by the Complete University Guide.

Having jumped 24 places last year, to number 60, Harper Adams is this year’s highest climber in the top 50, advancing a further 14 places to 46th. The leap also makes Harper Adams the highest rated post-92 university in the 2017 table.

Welcoming the news, University Vice-Chancellor Dr David Llewellyn said: “This is the second year in a row that we have made substantial gains in the Complete University Guide, confirming our position as the UK's leading specialist agri-food institution, taking the top position, this year, for post-92 universities and adding to our recent WhatUni Student Choice Award of ‘University of the Year’.  I am delighted that the hard work of our staff and students has been recognised in this way.”

True to its mission to deliver higher education for the agri-food industries, Harper Adams sits in the top 10 for Agriculture and related studies, and top 20 for food science.

Dr Bernard Kingston, principal author of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, said: “Last year’s Higher Education Green Paper, Higher education: teaching excellence, social mobility and student choice, stated that applicants need access to robust, timely and objective information, based on criteria that are straightforward and easily understood.

“TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk meets these criteria and more and makes all of its information freely available so that students are able to make informed choices."

Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer of the Hotcourses Group, which acquired TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk in October 2015, said: “We are delighted to be associated with such a recognised and respected brand here and overseas.

"Its rankings are well known for their editorial integrity and independence, key cornerstones we are determined will remain under the continued guidance of Bernard Kingston. It is a pleasure to work with him and his expert team, to whom I offer my warmest congratulations on this latest release.

“The CUG league tables follow close on the heels of the very different Whatuni Student Choice Awards. Both exist to help students make the right university choices.”

Harper Adams University is the current holder of the Whatuni Student Choice Award for University of the Year.
