The DELTA project is an excellent opportunity to add resources and expertise to the university’s learning and teaching activities for the benefit of our students and staff."
More than £700,000 is being invested in staff, technology and training to advance teaching and learning at Harper Adams University.
The three-year DELTA project - Delivering Excellent Learning, Teaching and Achievement – officially started in 2016 but with the primary planning phase complete, staff are preparing to launch a series of initiatives that will have a direct impact on how students are taught and assessed.
The project is being built upon the three strategic pillars of People, Technology and Spaces.
Initiatives include the creation of teaching fellows within each academic department, who will focus on the development of teaching practice; creation of a new media developer role, to enable the creation of more video and animated, media-rich e-learning; new technology including mobile devices for electronic marking; increased lecture capture and online sharing; and the development of new learning spaces on the campus.
In addition, the university will be investing in the IT infrastructure to support e-learning.
Director of Learning, Teaching and International, Andy Jones, said: “The DELTA project is an excellent opportunity to add resources and expertise to the university’s learning and teaching activities for the benefit of our students and staff.
“We are very pleased that HEFCE has provided this ISF funding, which enables such important investment.’
The project is being delivered using Institution-Specific Funding, an annual allocation from the government that recognises the university’s concentrated provision, higher costs associated with teaching specialist subjects and world-leading teaching outputs.
