Students’ opinions place Harper Adams University in the UK top two for three years running
Posted 22 March 2018
Harper Adams University sits at second overall in the 2018 Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, published today.
The university has been placed first or second for each of the three years it has appeared in the survey, each time playing leapfrog with Loughborough, which took the top spot this year with a 0.2 points overall score difference (85.1 to 84.9).
Launching the survey results today, Times Higher Education magazine’s Sara Custer, writes: “Based on our survey of more than 20,000 undergraduates, carried out by youth research agency YouthSight, 2018’s results underscore what students value: high-quality lecturers and staff, good campus facilities and a community atmosphere.”
Good news for Harper Adams, which ranks at number one this year for academic experience, industry connections and student welfare; number three for student accommodation and five for facilities, in the table of 116 higher education institutions that met the survey threshold of a minimum of 50 responses.
Responding to the news, Dr David Llewellyn, Harper Adams University Vice-Chancellor, said: “We were included in the survey for the first time in 2016, so to have come in the top two places three years in a row is a magnificent achievement.
“This year’s result continues to demonstrate that our staff provide an outstanding education for our students. It also shows that some smaller universities are equally as effective as larger institutions in delivering a great experience for their students.
“There is a strong sense of community at Harper Adams. This is evidently something that students really value and which has contributed to our ongoing success in the survey as much as it has to the distinctive contribution we make to the higher education sector.”
A total of 20,251 UK undergraduates were polled by YouthSight between October 2016 and June 2017.
