“We’re looking for people with a positive attitude, an interest in our business and those of our clients. If you are inquisitive, lateral thinking and operate on a professional basis then you’ll fit right in.”
A new scholarship for second year BSc students on the rural enterprise and land management (REALM) and rural property management (RPM) degrees has been launched ahead of the Harper Adams University Scholarship Fair on Thursday 25 October.
The GSC Grays Scholarship will provide the successful recipient with a contribution of £2,500 towards their tuition fees, as well as employment for their placement year with GSC Grays at their office in Colburn, North Yorkshire.
Director of GSC Grays and Harper alumnus Calum Gillhespy said: “We’ve always had a strong relationship with Harper.
“We’ve been providing placement opportunities for a number of years but the chance to provide a scholarship is something which we’ve been delighted to be able to take up.
“For a quite a while we’ve been looking at extending our relationship and we’re delighted to discover the opportunity to sponsor a second year student.
“We’ve supported a number of our staff with distance learning courses and this scholarship is an extension of that ethos.
“For all members of staff that work with us, we’re keen to ensure that they’re given the level of autonomy and responsibility which they’re comfortable with given the stage of their career; including our new scholar.
“The successful scholar will be working in the valuation team, led by David Cooper. The valuation survey team offers experience in a range of valuations from houses to farms to rural commercial property.
“By working in a team with two expert witnesses and a recently qualified surveyor, the scholar will be provided with a varied experience and supportive working environment.”
In regards to what they’re looking for in a scholar, Calum added: “We’re looking for people with a positive attitude, an interest in our business and those of our clients. If you are inquisitive, lateral thinking and operate on a professional basis then you’ll fit right in.”
