“No one livestock farm will be the same, and that to me is exciting.”

Abby Puddefoot, 20, from Blaencelyn, Llandysul, Wales, is a second year Agriculture with Animal Science student and recipient of the ForFarmers Ruminant Scholarship.

"I decided to study Agriculture with Animal Sciences due to my passion for farming. I especially enjoy livestock modules as they are so varied and there are so many paths to go down. No one livestock farm will be the same, and that to me is exciting.

"ForFarmers attracted me because of their strong partnership with customers. Furthermore, I share the same ambitions for the future, such as considering the public perception of agriculture.

"I decided to apply to ForFarmers due to my strong interest in farm animal nutrition, as I believe this is important in maximising profits and ensuring sustainability. ForFarmers are one of the leading nutrition companies in Europe, and I look forward to working with a company with a clear vision towards the future

"I would like to thank ForFarmers for providing me with this amazing opportunity, additionally I would like to thank them for the scholarship they awarded to me as it will aid me greatly with my studies.

"This opportunity will provide me with a vast depth of knowledge, which I will be able to utilise in my future studies and employment following this. It will give me a chance to develop my personal and professional skills in the workplace.

It's not all work and study for Abby, who also enjoys playing rubgy, weightlifting and dry stone walling.

"I love being within a team environment," she says. "A rugby team to me is like a family. Weightlifting allows me to set goals and enjoy the success I feel when I meet these targets and dry stone walling gives me a substantial amount of enjoyment and immense satisfaction."
