“In recognition of those who have gone before us, and those who will follow us, The Harper Adams Club Committee is proud to offer the Harper Adams Club Centenary Scholarship.”
A new scholarship from the Harper Adams Club has been launched in honour of their centenary.
The Harper Adams Club Centenary Scholarship, a prestigious one-off scholarship valued up to £2,500, celebrates the anniversary of the first Club meeting in 1920. The scholarship is open to final year undergraduate students on BSc and BSc (Hons) pathways, as well as current taught Masters or Postgraduate diploma students who have already been awarded a degree or a Higher National Diploma from Harper Adams University.
Ros Barsley, Joint President and Honorary Life President of the Harper Adams Club, said: “Little would those 40 people who gathered in the Grand Hotel in Birmingham, 100 years ago, believe how Harper Adams would develop over the next century.
“They probably would not believe that Harper Adams is now a University with more than 4,000 students, nor that the campus had grown in such a manner and is home to the world’s first Hands Free Hectare.
“They would be astounded to learn that Club members and scholars are working on the world’s fastest tractor, pioneering the growth of super foods from Peru, making world-class gins, wines and beers, and championing the conservation of our natural environment.”
Development Trust Trustee and Joint President of the Harper Adams Club, Simon Jones, added: “I am sure there is one thing they would believe – that the Harper Adams Club is not a place, it does not begin and end at the borders of Edgmond, and it is not subjected to changes in technology or diversity in subject area.
“It is about people, which is why, at any gathering where there are Harper Alumni, conversation flows and instant friendships are made, across courses and years because the thing that binds us all together is the Harper Spirit.
“So, in recognition of those who have gone before us, and those who will follow us, The Harper Adams Club Committee is proud to offer the Harper Adams Club Centenary Scholarship.”
The Club offers further scholarship opportunities including the Harper Adams Club Final Year Scholarship, Animal & Veterinary Sciences Scholarship, Extended Foundation Degree Scholarship, Final Year Scholarship, and Postgraduate Scholarship.
Students have until 19 January to submit applications for the Harper Adams Club 2020/21 Scholarships.
