Arrangements for lockdown rent refunds confirmed

    Posted 15 January 2021

Harper Adams University, supported by the Harper Adams Students’ Union, has today written to students to advise that

    1. Students whose courses will continue online, who are not permitted to return to the campus, and who live in University-owned accommodation, will receive rent refunds for the period between the beginning of the Spring term and 20 February.

    2. Students in catered accommodation will receive a refund for the catering element of their accommodation fees for the period 9-18 December, 2020 as well as the full accommodation refund in point 1.

    3. Students in university-owned accommodation permitted to resume studies on campus will be subject to full accommodation fees as per their rental agreement.

    4. We are following up with students renting from private landlords to provide advice on their position with regard to the national lockdown.

Students have also been reminded of their responsibility, whether in the local area or remaining at their vacation address, to comply with the national lockdown guidance to assist the move back to normal, safe operations.

Commenting on this announcement, Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn, said: “We wish to thank our students and their families for bearing with us while we developed our response to the national lockdown. We are pleased to have now confirmed our approach to campus accommodation charges and we will continue to communicate directly with students about their teaching and learning arrangements.”
