AFRICAN AGRICULTURE ADDRESS AT HARPER ADAMS

THE HARPER FORUM discussion group at Harper Adams University College, near Newport, Shropshire, will welcome an international speaker on African agriculture next week.

It will be the first time that Emma Sitambuli has visited the UK and she will be stopping off at Harper Adams to talk about ‘Sowing the Seeds of Self Reliance in Africa.’

Ms Sitambuli studied Agriculture in Zambia and has worked in the country for a number of years with subsistence farmers.

Her work has encouraged self-sufficiency and self-reliance through the introduction of new agricultural techniques, crops and the development of new skills in areas such as marketing.

Her address will cover the work that she has done in Zambia and will also look at the issues that face African farmers. Ms Sitambuli’s visit to the UK is being supported by the Harvest Help organisation, which will provide a translator for the session.

Meetings of Harper Forum are open to all and anyone who is interested in finding out more about African agriculture is welcome to attend.

Ms Sitambuli’s session will take place in the Lecture Theatre at Harper Adams on Thursday, November 29, 2001 and will begin at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be provided after the session.
