THE HARPER FORUM discussion group at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, played host to Tony Bourne of Fendt Tractors last month.
Mr Bourne’s well-attended presentation looked at the Fendt Favourit 700 Vario, which features Stepless Variable Transmission with a top road speed of 50 kph.
The 700 Vario also features a wide range of up to the minute technology including ride control and joystick manipulation of hydraulics and PTO. Geoffrey Wakeham, Senior Lecturer in Engineering at Harper Adams, said the 700 Vario was: “A glimpse into the future, available now. This is almost ‘Death by Chocolate’ for our engineers!”
Fendt Tractors have kindly agreed to lend the 700 Vario to Harper Adams’ Engineering Department where it will be put through its paces by the students during test-drives. They will also be comparing its performance against the Valtra, Massey Ferguson, Case and New Holland equivalents.
